# Content not fitting or scaling to your screen

Is your content showing not properly fitting or scaling the screen? This is usually caused by a mismatch between your content and the screen’s resolution, aspect ratio or orientation.

Here are a few simple checks to help get everything fitting correctly.

## Check your content resolution

For the best results, create your content at the same resolution as your screen.

The most common sizes are:

- **Landscape:** 1920 × 1080
- **Portrait:** 1080 × 1920
- **4K landscape:** 3840 × 2160
- **4K portrait:** 2160 × 3840

Most commercial displays use a 16:9 aspect ratio. Content created in a different shape, such as square or ultrawide, may show black space or become cropped.

If you’re unsure of your screen’s native resolution, check its specifications or ask your hardware reseller.

## Check the orientation

Make sure the content and screen use the same orientation.

- Landscape content should be displayed on a landscape screen.
- Portrait content should be displayed on a portrait screen.

If they don’t match, your content may appear sideways, cropped or surrounded by empty space.

Screen orientation is generally controlled through the display or media player’s own settings rather than the Fusion Signage portal.

## Choose Fit, Fill or Stretch

When adding media to a playlist, you can choose how Fusion Signage scales it.

| Setting | What it does | What you may notice |
| ----------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------- |
| **Fit** | Shows the entire image or video while keeping its proportions | Black space may appear around the content |
| **Fill** | Enlarges the content to cover the whole screen while keeping its proportions | Some edges may be cropped |
| **Stretch** | Forces the content to match the screen’s dimensions | The image may look stretched or distorted |

### Which setting should I use?

- Use **Fit** when seeing the whole image is most important.
- Use **Fill** when covering the entire screen is most important.
- Use **Stretch** for simple backgrounds or graphics where some distortion is acceptable.

Matching your content to the screen’s resolution and aspect ratio will still provide the best result.
