Fusion Signage provides access to a range of APIs that allow you to connect your own systems, applications and workflows with the Fusion Signage platform.

By using our APIs, your development team can automate common tasks, reduce manual work and create more scalable, dynamic digital signage experiences.

## What is an API?

An **API (Application Programming Interface)** allows different software systems to communicate with each other.

In practical terms, an API enables your own software, applications or scripts to interact directly with Fusion Signage. This means certain tasks that would normally be completed manually through the Fusion Signage dashboard can instead be performed automatically.

## Why use the Fusion Signage API?

APIs can help streamline content management and make it easier to manage signage networks at scale.

Depending on your requirements, you may be able to use the Fusion Signage API to upload content, organise playlists and connect Fusion Signage with your existing business systems.

## Upload and manage media

Automate parts of your content workflow by uploading images, videos and other supported media directly to your Fusion Signage account.

This can be useful for:

- Connecting a Digital Asset Management (DAM) platform or other content library to Fusion Signage 
- Uploading large numbers of assets without manually adding each file 
- Keeping signage content aligned with content stored in another system 

## Create and organise playlists

Use the API to help manage which content appears in your playlists.

For example, you could:

- Create or update playlists automatically 
- Add or remove content based on information from another system 
- Trigger content changes using factors such as inventory levels, weather or local events 
- Build workflows that reduce the need for manual playlist updates 

## Manage screens and devices

Additional API functionality for managing and monitoring screens is planned for the future.

Planned capabilities include:

- **Screen monitoring:** Connect screen status and health information with your organisation’s monitoring tools 
- **Remote management:** Manage certain screen settings and assignments programmatically 
- **Large-scale deployment:** Apply configurations across larger screen networks more efficiently 

These features are not currently available and may be subject to change as development continues.

Before getting started, consider what you would like the integration to achieve and which Fusion Signage tasks you want to automate.

Your development team can then review the available API documentation to understand the supported endpoints, authentication requirements and available actions.
