Note: There are many Android media players available, ranging from residential to commercial-grade devices. We recommend testing Fusion Signage on your device to ensure compatibility with your needs.
Setting up Fusion Signage on an Android device
This guide assumes you're installing on a new Android unit running Android 4.4 or higher with the factory bootloader intact.
Required equipment:
USB mouse and/or keyboard.
USB memory stick with the latest Fusion Signage APK, or download the APK directly via the device browser at https://fus.app/a.apk
Active internet connection.
Important considerations
Older devices may not support the latest app version and could show a parsing error. If so, try installing this version:
https://assets.fusionsignage.com.au/releases/android/2.3.8/fusion-app-release-v2.3.8.apk (supports Android 4.4.4+).
Always test the installation process on your device before deploying to customer hardware.
Device configuration and installation
1. Auto boot on power (optional)
If your device automatically starts when powered, skip this step.
If not, find MCUSetting in Android’s Settings menu and enable 'Enable auto start system when plug in'.
2. Enable unknown sources
Go to Settings > Security
Turn on 'Unknown sources' to allow installation of apps outside the Google Play Store.
3. Root access (if needed)
Rooted devices – use SuperSU to grant root access:
Open SuperSU
Navigate to Settings, then set Default Access to Grant
Note – rooting may be required for automatic updates or specific features.
4. Set correct time and date
Go to Settings > Date & Time.
Set the correct timezone, date, and time.
Important – the device’s time is used for security identifiers and scheduling. Incorrect time may cause issues.
5. Connect to the internet
Configure WiFi or Ethernet in Settings > Network.
Recommendation – use wired Ethernet where possible for stability.
If using WiFi, ensure a strong, reliable connection.
Installing Fusion Signage
1. Using USB
Download the APK at https://fus.app/a.apk or copy your pre-downloaded APK to a USB stick.
Insert USB into your device.
Use File Explorer to locate the APK on the USB.
Tap the APK to install.
Once installed, tap Open to launch Fusion Signage.
2. Downloading via browser
Open the device’s browser and go to https://fus.app/a.apk
The APK will download to Downloads folder.
Use File Explorer to find and tap the APK.
Follow prompts to install.

Connecting and configuring
1. Find your identifier
After launch, if you see a 6-digit identifier on the screen, your device is ready.
Enter this identifier in Fusion Signage Portal > Screens > Add Screen to link the device.
2. If no identifier appears or shows offline
Ensure device is connected to the internet via Ethernet or WiFi.
Confirm correct date and time are set.
If issues persist, check network connectivity and device settings.
3. Touchscreen and menu settings
By default, touching the screen opens the Fusion Signage menu.
To prevent accidental menu access, enable 'Menu Secure Access' in device settings:
To access, tap the screen 5 times quickly instead of once.
4. Additional settings
Use the menu (via touch, remote, or mouse) to access options like WiFi setup, date/time adjustment, orientation, custom LED resolution, offset settings, auto-boot, and auto-update.
Finalise setup
Power cycle the device – unplug, wait 10 seconds, then plug back in.
If the device automatically boots into Fusion Signage and appears online in your portal, setup is complete.
