SoC vs media player

When setting up Fusion Signage, you'll need something to run the Fusion Signage application and display your content.

There are generally two ways to do this: using a System on Chip (SoC) screen or connecting an external media player to your screen.

Both options can work well with Fusion Signage, but the best choice will depend on your setup.

A System on Chip screen has its own built-in operating system and processing power, allowing Fusion Signage to run directly on the screen.

There's no separate media player required. Once Fusion Signage is installed on the supported screen, it can connect to your account and begin displaying content.

SoC can be a particularly good option when purchasing new commercial displays that are already compatible with Fusion Signage.

A media player is a separate device connected to your screen, usually via HDMI.

Fusion Signage runs on the media player rather than directly on the screen. The screen itself simply displays the output from the player.

There's no single option that's best for every setup.

If you're purchasing new compatible commercial screens and want a clean, simple installation, SoC may be the best fit.

If you already have screens in place, need greater hardware flexibility, or your screens don't support Fusion Signage directly, an external media player may be the better option.

Your integrator can help recommend the right approach based on your screens, environment and how you plan to use Fusion Signage.

Not every SoC screen or media player will necessarily support Fusion Signage.
