BrightSign Installation Guide

Important note – we recommend updating your device to the latest version of the Fusion Signage app to ensure optimal performance. For video audio playback, please use version 2.3.4.

BrightSign installation

Let's set up Fusion Signage on your BrightSign device. The preferred method is through BSN.Cloud, which enables remote management and easy updates of your BrightSign players.

Supported devices

  • Only the latest generation of BrightSign devices are supported.

  • Devices listed as Legacy are not compatible with Fusion Signage.

Preparing your BrightSign unit

Follow these steps to get your device ready:

  • Connect the power adapter.

  • Connect a display to the BrightSign via HDMI (or other display cables as supported).

  • Connect the device to the internet through the Ethernet port.

  • Ensure your SD card is cleared and formatted to FAT32 or ExFAT.

Accessing Fusion Signage via BSN.Cloud (OS 8 and above)

Step 1: login to BSN.Cloud

Step 2: create a new player setup

  • From the BSN Cloud Dashboard, navigate to Admin > Player Setup.

  • Enter a name for your package and an optional description.

  • Select your timezone to ensure scheduling accuracy.

  • Click the arrow next to Partner App, then click select a partner app and find Fusion Signage.

  • On the right side, ensure 'Remote Snapshot' is enabled.

  • Under the Advanced tab, tick Enable BSN.cloud.

  • At the bottom, click Add Setup File to Library.

  • Your package will now appear in the Setup Library.

Setting up your BrightSign device

Note – if your BrightSign has been used previously, perform a factory reset to clear cached data ⬇

  1. Unplug the power cable.

  2. Hold both Reset and SVC buttons next to the power port.

  3. While holding, plug in the power cable and keep holding until the ERR light flickers.

  4. The device resets and boots as if new, showing a purple screen with an activation code once powered.

Player activation

  • In BSN.Cloud, go to Admin > Player Activation.

  • Enter the activation code displayed on your device and click Submit.

  • Navigate to Admin > Player Provisioning.

  • Find your device by serial number, assign a name and description (via the edit icon).

  • Select your setup package and click Apply Setup.

Your BrightSign will reboot multiple times, eventually loading the Fusion Signage app. Once complete, your device will appear on the Network tab as successfully installed.

Exploring other settings

  • Return to your Dashboard.

  • Select your device, click the settings icon.

  • Here, you can view and edit advanced device configurations.

Installing Fusion Signage via SD card (alternative method)

Step 1: download and prepare

  • Download the latest Fusion Signage application files here: https://fus.app/b.

  • Extract and copy the autorun.zip file onto a formatted SD card (FAT32 or ExFAT).

Default application settings

  • Auto-update enabled.

  • Signage menu appears on single click/touch.

  • IP assigned via DHCP.

  • Orientation set to landscape.

  • Resolution: 1920 x 1080.

  • Timezone is not set by default.

Note – you can modify settings after installation if you connect a mouse or touchscreen to access Fusion Signage settings.

Creating custom configuration files (for standard series players without USB)

  1. Log into the Fusion Signage portal at Settings > Player App > Configuration Settings.

  2. Adjust settings as needed:

    • Enable Auto Updates (default ON; turn OFF for manual updates).

    • Enable Video Sound.

    • Enable Menu Secure Access (requires five quick touches to access settings if enabled).

    • Screen Rotation (0°, 90°, 180°, 270°).

    • Timezone.

    • Manual Network Configuration (static IP, subnet, gateway, DNS).

  3. Click Create File to generate settings.json.

  4. Copy this file to your SD card alongside autorun.zip.

Note - after adding settings.json, reboot the device to apply custom configurations.

Currently custom resolutions are unable to be set within the configuration files.

This feature will be available in 2026.

Installing Fusion Signage via SD card

  • Copy autorun.zip onto a blank SD card.

  • Insert the SD card into your BrightSign device.

  • Reboot the device.

  • The Fusion Signage app will launch, displaying an identity code.

  • Follow the portal instructions to add and activate your device.

You're all set! Your BrightSign device is now running Fusion Signage, managed remotely via BSN.Cloud or SD card setup.
