Playlists

Ahh, the Manage section. Your go-to place to add, view and organise Media, Playlists and Schedules. 🤗

Next, let's create your first Playlist.

Empowered tip:

Playlists are the most important element of Fusion Signage. A Playlist can be assigned to a screen or schedule, and contains media files, websites, templates or even other playlists.

Creating a new Playlist

From within the Manage section,

  1. Click Add in the top right, and select Playlist.
  2. Give your playlist a name.
  3. Press Create Playlist

You’ll now be in the Playlist editor.

Adding Content to Playlist

  1. Click Add,
  2. Select Media
  3. Here you can select from previously uploaded media or add new media. You can choose a folder at the top, or search through your media here.
  4. Just click on your media in this window and they’ll be added to playlist behind.

Organising content

  1. Click and drag the cross next to the type to reorder.
  2. You can set a duration on images, websites and designs, and
  3. Choose the fit/fill/stretch option to help your content fit your screen.
  4. Select multiple items to update them all at once with the options in the top right

Nested Playlists (Add a Playlist within a Playlist)

Advanced Licence

You can also add an entire Playlist.

  1. Just click Add and
  2. Select Playlist
  3. Choose your Playlist from the list

Any changes to the playlist added will be updated everywhere it’s included. This makes content changes super quick and easy.

note

Fusion only supports one level of nested Playlist. If there is another Playlist within the Playlist you are adding it will be ignored (Playlist-ception!)

Actions

On the right are the Actions. Depending on your licence type you will have different options available.

You can delete an item from the playlist (this doesn’t remove it from your media library), duplicate, or show and hide to temporarily stop it from playing.

Another option here is replace. This allows you to swap out a media file with another while maintaining any content-level scheduling you have set up.

Content-Level Scheduling

Advanced Licence

You can also set up content level scheduling on an individual media file if you only want it to appear in the playlist at certain times. You can specify the days of the week, start and end time, as well as start and end date. Add as many schedules as you like. You can apply this to a single file, or if you have multiple files selected, you can apply to all selected.

Advanced interactions with Schedules can be found in more detail here

Publish Playlist

When you’re ready, hit Preview, and choose landscape or portrait to see how your playlist will appear.

If you are happy, click save and publish. If you’re not ready to assign it to a screen yet, just click save. Otherwise, use the dropdowns to assign it to a Screen, or Screen Group.

You’ll see the current online status, as well as the playlist or schedule you are going to override on that screen.

Screen Offline:

If your screen is showing as offline, 99% of the time this is due to your device being turned off or no longer connected to the internet. Offline means that our server is unable to communicate with our application running on your screen. Check your device or try these steps here

Click save and publish. After a few seconds, your screen should be updated with the new content.
