Widgets

Dynamic widgets are another useful tool within the Designer. They are small applications that can be embedded into your digital displays to provide real-time information, such as news headlines, weather updates, social media feeds and event schedules. The widgets Fusion Signage provides are designed to be dynamic and interactive which allows users to engage with the content on the display and provide a more personalised experience.

Dynamic widgets are typically developed using web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. They are hosted on a web server and can be accessed remotely, making it easy to update and change the content in real-time. This means that the content displayed on digital signage can be updated automatically, ensuring that the information is always current and relevant.

The dynamic widgets Fusion Signage currently offer are;

  • Clock

    • Adds the live time to your content. The time is set based on your device time, so as long as this is set to the correct time zone you can deploy this widget to multiple screens and it will display local time.
  • Date

    • Adds the live date to your content. The date is set based on your device time, so as long as this is set to the correct time zone you can deploy this widget to multiple screens and it will display local date.
  • Weather

    • This adds weather information to your content. This is not connected to the timezone as this is too broad. You will need to set the area using the dropdown at the top.
    • You can change how this is information is displayed under the format dropdown. It can be displayed as the temperature, a description or an icon. You can have multiple weather widgets displaying at once so you could have all three options simultaneously if desired.
  • HTML

    • The HTML widget allows you to add in custom HTML code to pull in information from external websites or databases allowing it to be updated in real time. This can be used to display information from other systems such as your point of sale, event management systems, and even tram timetables to name a few. There are no limits to the information that can be displayed, only that you'll need to have the custom HTML code to insert here. If you have some code, give it a go here, or get in touch with us to assist.
  • Image slideshow

    • This widget allows you to select images either from your media library or from the Unsplash database to display in a slideshow along your content.
    • You can set the speed as well as an effect to use on transition.
  • Website

    • This widget allows you to display content from a webpage on your screens. The website must be available to the public, not requiring any log in details. You will need to check the URL is able to be embedded within an iFrame for it to work. Google iframe checker or test it Here.
  • Youtube live

    • This widget embeds a YouTube video into your content, and has the ability to stream a live video to your screen in real time. Insert your desired URL into the provided box at the top of the screen, and toggle whether you want audio on or off.
    • Note: This will use your local internet to stream the content. If you have access to the YouTube video in MP4 format it will save bandwidth to upload the video instead of using YouTube live.
      Note

Some Youtube videos don't allow themselves to be embedded in non-conventional browsers. Our Youtube widget uses an iframe to embed the video into the device browser so depending on the Youtube videos permissions it may not display. Unfortunately there isn't anything that we can do from our end to resolve this for videos that don't allow themselves to be embedded.

  • Facebook live

    • Similar to the Youtube widget, this allows you to embed Facebook live videos into your content to have it playing in real time. Insert your desired URL into the provided box at the top of the screen, and toggle whether you want audio on or off.
  • Text ticker

    • Have your text scroll across the screen in a text ticker format. Insert your text into the provided box in the editing toolbar. You can customise the scroll screen, the space between, and the font size, colour and style.
  • QR Code

    • Insert a QR code into your content. Paste the URL for where you want the QR code to direct users into the provided box along the editing toolbar.
  • Text Slideshow

    • This widget will scroll through different blocks of text. Insert as many different text blocks as you would like and the widget will scroll through each block repetitively. You can completely customise how the text looks using the editing toolbar along the top.
  • RSS feed

    • This widget allows you to display content from an RSS feed directly onto your screen. It will typically display the title and a brief description of the most recent items in the feed. Insert the URL into the provided box at the top. Images can be toggled on and off, and you can completely customise how it appears using the editing toolbar at the top of the screen.
